ACRYLICS:
Doing Your Own Work

In this course students will work with the instructor to articulate
their own vision and particular challenges. Suzanne’s intention is to
meet each individual exactly where they are and to support them in the
production of work in the classroom that expands their practice in a
personal way.
The format will lean heavily on individual instruction
and will also include lecture and discussion and some demonstration of
particular techniques.
Subjects to be addressed will include awareness of
surface quality, mixing media, mark making, composition, subject matter
and some discussion around colour. Students are expected to
provide their own subject material be that sketches, photos, physical
items or ideas.
Expect to be challenged, to be brave, to have fun!

5 days painting instruction, delicious lunches, and unlimited
studio time. We like to get together for a group dinner on Thursday

Biography
A painter for over twenty years, Suzanne has moved
from mixed media to photo based work and, most recently, to digital
video and installation. Her work explores themes of boundaries and
connections, prying at the space between things, between moments and
events, people and places and various states of being. This interest has
manifested in her move toward interdisciplinary collaboration where she
mines the rich space between artists and between genres. Northcott’s
work is collected and published internationally, and she is in demand as
a teacher and lecturer across Canada. She is
represented in Whistler by Adele Campbell Gallery. Influences
include Betty Goodwin, Gerhard Richter and Barnett Newman. Suzanne’s
work is shown at Linda Lando Fine Art in Vancouver.
