Grant Fuller's
workshop
in September consists of plein air painting in watercolour with on site
demonstration.
What to include, what to leave out? Solutions to these age old questions
will be provided in simple, basic terms.
This means that even beginners can enjoy the experience. If weather
prevents us from working outdoors, we will work in the studio from photo
reference provided, and step by step demonstration.
Either way, this will be a relaxed but informative time. We will learn
how to paint water, rocks, trees, clouds, driftwood and most things
found in local seascapes.
Here is a quote from an email just received from Grant's 2008 workshop:
Quadra was my first workshop and
I was soooo nervous! You all made it an experience that I will cherish
forever! So wonderful to spend a week with like minded and enthusiastic
“artists‘’ !! J
I am looking forward to
another workshop but fear I have been spoiled by the superb instruction,
awesome hosts, accommodation and food, and wonderful fellow students! I can’t
imagine ever having such an inspirational, productive week with such an
incredibly perfect mix of personalities again…

Materials
I am currently using artist quality M.Graham pigments in
my main pallet. These are highly concentrated paints that do not dry out and
crack in the pallet. The colours I have are: Phthalocyanine Blue,
Ultramarine Blue, Dioxazine Purple, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red Light,
Phthalocyanine Green, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Quinacridone Rose.
My second pallet consists of these pigments which I have been using for
years and are quite acceptable. This is not a compulsory list, you are welcome to your own preferences.
Cotman is a less expensive "Student Quality" grade made by Winsor Newton.
Winsor Newton refers to "Artist Quality".
